honestly I don't remember why I requested this book but I liked listening to the audiobook. doesn't super get into survivor which is fine with me. I thought the structure of the memoir was good, specifically the fawn/flight/fight/freeze parts. the portion about her childhood and the ranch are interesting but the most compelling parts are probably (1) the public response to her time on survivor in 2008 - 2020 and (2) her relationship with her husband. how she talks about her desire to have a child and family, in connection to her relationship with her boyfriend and eventual husband really stood out to me in how honest it was.
the way she talks about her relationships with men vs her relationship with mae martin also stood out to me. the healing journey parts were also cool to read. ultimately you can tell she has done a lot of self-reflection on her public image and her self-image so I didn't really get bored listening.
all that being saidthe ending where she quotes wild geese by mary oliver i was like ok.......

my girl has worked through some sh*t wow. wish there was more survivor content but overall love her so loved hearing her story and learning more about her struggles. this might be the beginning of my memoir era I think.
