This book made sleeping on hay covered by a blanket seem appealing.
Oh to be on a Swiss mountainside having a meal of milk, bread, and cheese among the flowers while my goat friends frolic!
I never read this as a kid. A bit cringy with all the religion, but a very simple, loving story with a lush pastoral setting and a vivacious and irrepressible heroine. It reminded me a bit of Anne of Green Gables in some ways.

I kept thinking of Jane Eyre while reading this. Not sure why. Anywho, I was gently prodded to read this despite my bias against it. I had labeled it sunny happy fluff. While it had sunny aspects it was not fluff. Enjoyed the scriptures and biblical teachings woven throughout. Always a sucker for a redemption arch in a story too. Well done
