Samkiel actually made me feel something like the trauma this man has endured unmatched

I thought this was a fun easy fantasy read! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a fantasy and this was an easy way to return! I will say the first fiftyish percent didn’t super captivate my attention but as a whole I really enjoyed this book and will be continuing this series! The cliffhanger at the end was definitely something I saw coming but I am excited to see how the story progresses from there and Dianna and Liam’s character growth!

one of the first booktok recs that i actually REALLY liked. i devoured this within 2 days and cant wait to read the next one. was the main character a bit cheesy with her modern bad girl attitude? yes. but i really didnt care bc the story was just so fun for me. also really liked how the book felt like NA or adult but wasnt overly loaded with smut scenes like so many books that are popular now. potential spoilers: it took until like 80% of the book for a kiss to even happen which made the overall relationship development seem so much more believable. anyway GOOD BOOK

Good worldbuilding, lovely morally grey characters and while obvious quite early on that the main characters are gonna end up together it happens seamlessly and the banter feels tangible as do the characters' feelings and emotions.
