Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela by Nelson Mandela

Probably good as a historic reference book but not the kind of autobiography I enjoy. I thought it is a very distant writing style with many details that don't seem to impact the overall story. Contains a lot of name dropping (which I assume is meant to give credit to other important people - which is very considerate - but doesn't help with the flow of the story at all). I think this could have benefited from tight editing and some footnotes for (optional) details and explanations.

One of the best autobiographies I've read. I probably underlined more sentences in this book than any other book, period. Should be required reading for anyone participating in any kind of social movement—or perhaps just anyone living in a democracy—or just everyone.

This is must read book. Not only does it provide an historical insight into Mandela's life from his own perspective, it offers inspiration for all fighting for freedom. Throughout the book, and particularly in the final chapter, you discover what freedom truly means, and the sacrifices it takes to achieve it. One of the best books I have read.
