Like the movie, this comic is less about characters and more about badass art. It still gets 4 stars though, because the artwork is *really* badass.

Impressive artwork and a succinct and thoroughly badass story. BUT I JUST WANT MORE.

Es la historia de la invasión de parte del rey/dios Xerxes a Esparta. Los espartanos, como buenos soldados, no se dejan disuadir y van a recibirlos.

I watched the movie first. Maybe that is the reason, I didn't like it.

As a fan of the movie first, I'm happy to say the book did not disappoint. It's nicer to see that every quoteable line from that film is pulled directly from these pages verbatim, which is a testament to the fantastic writing. Some spots felt a little short and rushed, and it was hard to connect to many characters outside of Leonidas as they were all so similar looking and sparsely called upon.

Both the graphic novel and the movie based off it are visually stunning. I mean, the movie has numerous scantily clad, well-oiled men. The book depicts the starkness of war in an overwhelming fashion. You can not read this novel in a sarcastic mood, but if you're willing to approach this story with the gravitas it requires, it's an arresting tale of military glory.
