hope xaden ex machina gets killed off in the sequels xoxo even dain was more likable by the end...

Spoilerhated xaden by the end. spineless oathbreaker who became overprotective dain 2.0 (meanwhile dain steadily got more and more bearable), who kept promising to abandon the rebellion for violet (which she did not ask of him), who abandoned sgaeyl for violet (which she also didn't ask!). none of this was romantic to me, just pathetic. how do you lose all respect for xaden? 'two ways, gradually and then suddenly.'

Somehow she managed to top Fourth Wing. This book was better, so many great character moments, almost every confrontation I wanted to happen happened with glorious satisfaction. Nearly all my questions were answered from last book and she left me with twice as many more. Cant wait to see how this plays out. Also I cried

This was definitely not as good as the first instalment in the series. Whilst I still enjoyed aspects (like the dragons) I think there was quite a big pacing issue, as there were moments when the plot dragged and felt repetitive (especially when rehashing elements from the first book), then all the scenes that moved the main plot forward being clumped together. The book definitely would have benefitted from being 100-200 pages shorter.

I have no words. My heart and brain can't process everything that happened in this book.

"Violence, remember it's only the body that's fragile. You are unbreakable."

I want so badly for Violet to just ask questions. The frustrations I feel for Xayden is so real. Xayden knows Violet is a Scribe at heart and loves research and gives her the perfect opportunity to do just that, ask questions and research. I'm just so frustrated with the 'love' they feel for each other.

It's a great book, I really enjoy the plot, the characters, the dragons(duh), and the world building. I just wish the relationship between Xayden and Violet was stronger, but the series isn't over, so I'm very excited to see what comes next.

As for spice, give me this scene over and over and over please; "My house. My chair. My woman."

Did I cry the most during the
Spoiler torture scene with Liam? Absolutely. That scene hurt the most, even more than the end. Also FUCK JACK.
