Right book right time for me wow. The loneliness, the ache, wanting to change your life and doing it. I’m floored by how much I loved this book, wow. The mix of hopelessness and possibility will carry me through that’s for sure.

I think I would have preferred to read this one with my eyes (not ears). I also would have loved it more if I hadn't read it while I was at the height of planning my own wedding 🤦

Deeply flawed characters across the board. Everyone is
cheating
. Nearly EVERYONE.
Interesting, well placed literary references. A plot that matches the literary references by never quite nailing the point on the head, just letting the plot speak for itself.
Found myself rooting for the
cheating ex
at one point, which was strange; but very effective.
I just felt like in the end I read a story about rich people being upset though. The only relatable character is the main one, in the sense that she’s an unsuccessful professor and wants to kill herself, but even she can afford to buy a $500 dress and spend four nights at a $900 a night resort. Everyone else is filthy rich. They’re all deeply in denial of their and other’s feelings and situations.
Maybe this was an ode to Victorian era writing, all the overthinking and small gestures on really rich people with nothing to lose. They really did march into that hotel and leave the hotel with nothing lost.

What a wonderful story. I’m glad phoebe was able to find herself and know what she wanted in life. I think lila helped her just as much as she help Lila. I enjoyed the love story involved as well. I wasn’t impressed when Matt showed up because I was worried she’d go back to him without an issue. But she didn’t!

This book was such a pleasant surprise! I got pulled into the story from the first page and found Phoebe to be such a relatable character. I immediately got the 5 start feeling from this book because of the humour, the writing style, the characters, the literary fictiony vibe of it all. I was rooting for Phoebe throughout the whole time and was looking forward to knowing what happens next after the end of each chapter. If not for life's responsibilities pulling me down, I would have devoured this book in one sitting!

I loved the messaging in this book that people come into your life for different reasons and you never know someone's impact in your life.

The Wedding People will forever live in my head and heart <3
