A very inward-looking book, where not much seems to happen, but still quite affecting.

I’m so conflicted writing this.

I did not like any of the characters, with the exception of Eline. However, the reason I didn’t like the rest of the cast is mainly in that they are written so realistically. They have real flaws so similar to what your sister or best friend would have.
The way our MC ends up going back to Adrianne in the end? Even though she says throughout the entire book that she knows she shouldn’t center herself around a man. It’s frustratingly real.

The setting of the story was very well done. As you read you also feel like you are in The Hague. You too feel the grey skies and the salty wind on your face. The isolating nature of the city.

Plot wise, I feel like nothing happens, and yet that is the entire point. The monotony, the loneliness, the desperation for something real.

It was a good read, but definitely made me toe the line of a reading slump.
