I gave this only 2 stars because it was 'ok'... After reading the third book in the series I wasn't really looking forward to reading this one because of what happened to Dimitri. I was then told by someone that nothing much really happens until the end so i wasn't expecting much. I found that there was a lot of stuff repeated so for most of the book I only read the conversations between characters. Now I know some people will say that's cheating but I was able to follow the storyline pretty good by only doing that.... Anyway I hate what Dimitri has become and I want Rose to forget about him and go for Adrian now :) There was some interesting plots going on and I would've enjoyed the book more if the 500 pages were shortened. Hoping the fifth is better....

Prvně čteno - 10. 10. 2013 - 13. 10. 2013, 5*
Re-reading - 26. 8. 2016 - 30. 8. 2016, 4,5*

I'm not even sure where to start. I finished this last night and I'm still kinda speechless.

Well if you've read the early books, you know that Rose and Dimitri are perfect for each other, tried to stay apart cause of the age thing, finally got together, then he was turned into a Strigoi. Really Richelle Mead? Ouch! That one hurt a little. But if you thought the last book made you sad, wait until you actually see Dimitri as a Strigoi. At various points in this book I was crying and practically yelling things like "HE'S NOT REALLY DIMITRI! KILL HIM ROSE!!" This entire book I was either incredibly sad and insanely angry.

When you read this book, there is going to be a long part where you are absolutely and completely pissed off at Rose. She loses herself for awhile and it was painful to read. I practically cheered when the old Rose came back.

While my heart does belong to Dimitri, I am starting to really, really like Adrian. He has his issues but he is really starting to grow on me. I hope Rose does give him a real shot like she promised. And on the other hand, I am starting to like Lissa less and less. I can't really put my finger on why. Maybe it's because she is in constant need of saving. I like a girl who can take care of herself.

I enjoy this series so much. As in, going to go buy the next one tomorrow. Cannot wait. And then there's Bloodlines soon! Yes!

Didn’t I tell you once I’d always be there for you? I’m here. I’ll protect you. We’re going to be together. We’re meant to be together. You know this.”

This one isn't quite as strong as the first three, but I still think it's amazing. It was just that in the first three books, I felt like I hit the ground running, and in this one, it took some more time to get hooked. But once the event we all knew was coming happened- at about 50%- oh man, after that, I couldn't put it down. Of course, I know where the story is going, but the road to get there is no doubt going to be nonstop action. I can't believe there are only two books left in this incredible series!

I didn’t know how I would go on living, but I knew that I wanted to.

This series has one of the best heroines EVER. No question. I. HAVE. FAITH. IN. YOU. ROZA!! ❤️❤️

The writing has improved majorly and whilst the story lagged a bit at the begging the plot redeemed itself in the last half of the book.

It's kinda slow in the first half then it takes a crazy turn and it actually ended up being one of my favorite books out of the series
