Whilst it is a super popular fiction book, I would say it’s written very much aware of the political climate today. It clearly talks about rape and abuse towards women in addition to living in a disadvantaged district.

A worthy prequel. Even knowing how it must end doesn't stop it being unputdownable.

A terrific addition to the Hunger Games series.

Focusing on the second Quarter Quell and Haymitch Abernathy, this prequel has a focus on many of the backstories on characters we met in the original trilogy. Besides the main plot of Haymitch and his Games, I found there to be a fascinating focus on media and the influential ugliness of misinformation and propaganda.

This book dives deeper into the “behind the scenes” of the Hunger Games, with sparks of hope coming from rebels and dissidents in the Districts, and even the Capital.

Fans of the Hunger Games should not miss this one.
