So much about this book screamed “perfect transition into fall!”

Reminiscent of the Addams family in a way I was NOT expecting, The Dead Romantics follows our main character, Florence Day. Florence, a romance (ghost)writer New York City, believes romance is absolutely dead after dealing with heartbreak post-breakup. Already feeling like a failure and completely down in the dumps, life throws another curveball her way; Florence is forced to travel back to her small hometown after her father passes away unexpectedly and is forced to confront the demons that pushed her to leave in the first place.

To be totally honest, the synopsis on the back of the book did NOT do this book Justice. There is so, so much to this story that made me fall in absolutely love with the writing and characters. I am a BIG fan of Florence and find her to be so freaking relatable and I absolutely loved the whole dynamic she had with her entire family. I don’t want to spoil any of those surprises for you, but this is a must read for sure. Perfect for fall!

I wasn’t sure about it at first but I ended up enjoying it when I realized a happily ever after was possible!

3.5. I’m not a quitter iykyk

I really liked this book. I loved the fun characters especially Ben and Florence. I like how the author wrote about grief and how it death isn't always a sad thing but a celebration of living. While I did guess part of the plot, I still really enjoyed reading the Dead Romantics and it just made me happy. I'm looking forward to reading more of Ashley Poston's books.

This book was everything. It had me kicking my feet, it made my laugh and cry (a lot). I absolutely adored the romance in this. Ben and Florence have my whole heart! But the side characters, the Day family especially were so eccentric and lovely. I loved the surprise twists in the book and the incredible ending. My heart is so happy after reading this book!!

This novel was a joy and a delight to read. The narration was excellent. The characters were well thought out, funny, and authentic. It’s a lighthearted story though it does center around death of a father, so watch for that if you’re feeling sensitive to it. It’s a wonderful tale about honoring love and our loved ones, of returning to a hometown with a complicated history, of hoping for healing. The town is its own character and I adore when that happens.
