My CAWPILE Score: 4.29
This felt like a big step down from the rest of the series unfortunately & if I wasn't invested in how the series was going to wrap up I likely would have DNF'd.
Things I liked
-The atmosphere/the world was written decently.
-It was nice to be back in some of the characters POVs.
Things that didn't work for me
-The lack of logic for things big and small! I was pulled out of the story no less than 6 times because something came up that seemed contradictory or nonsensical!! It really killed my enjoyment.
-Wells' chapters. The first one was basically an emotional pity party and the subsequent ones had basically no emotion until the end. It wasn't believable.
-The scope of the book was very narrow and it didn't feel like a necessary edition to the series. It basically felt like a slice of life/adventure with the characters with a similar rehash of the same plot instead of a continuation. There were big things introduced that were just ignored (probably in hopes of a book 5 someday - ugh.)
-The endings for each POV were super cliché, predictable and anticlimactic.
