I was generously provided with an ARC by Harper Collins, prior to our March book of the Month for QBD the Bookshop..
What a book! This was such a fantastically written novel. The suspense throughout was undeniable and I could've kept reading and reading if the book kept going and going.

Okay, so I have to review this properly now that I can think. I've been so caught up in thinking and rethinking about this story and I honestly grow more and more in love with the twists incorporated to keep you second guessing each and every member of the four women. I am legitimately considering re-reading just to catch any character slips ups. Like even though I know "who done it" I'm am a bit like, I want to dissect that certain characters tone and how she flows with the group.
And a little semi spoiler, I love that Joni's priest pal turns up at the end of the book in such a "real life irony" way. That was the icing on the cake for me :)

Four friends, Joni, Deb, Eden, and Trina, have been friends since high school. Now as adults, their bond is slipping away. They take a yearly vacation together, and this time things will be different.
One night, while drinking lots of wine, they decide to write anonymous letters, spilling secrets they've never told anyone. Each letter shares things the women weren't able to say to their friends, but since it was anonymous felt it would be OK to share.
When their trip is nearing its end, Joni finds the remnants of a fifth letter in the fireplace. The letter is a hate-filled confession about a decades-long grudge. Since it's anonymous, Joni has no idea who wrote it. She sets out to figure out who switched their letter, but that proves to be harder than it seems.
The story is mostly told through Joni's confessions with her priest. I'm not really a fan of how the story was being told. It wasn't a great story. It had a lot of potential, but the "big reveal" of who wrote the fifth letter was such a letdown. The confession, and even the way the story was told, was very juvenile. I didn't hate the book, but I didn't like it either. I would never recommend it to anyone to read.

I can't even remember the exact details of this book. It's not my thing at all. But I know plenty who will enjoy it, and it is not a reflection on the author as the writing is good ... simply not to my taste at the moment.
