Get past the first 100ish pages, and its a riveting book about found family, the exposure of intense indoctrination, and magical girl powers all wrapped in one.

Unsettlingly gory at parts, and strikingly vague in others. This would work well for someone who reads with a heavy focus on action and dialogue. Please do mind the trigger warnings.

Overall loved the story and how it unfolded. a bit repetitive in some parts but was very engaging!

Emotionally driven and filled with action. I could not put this book down. 

Beautifully written, haunting and at times difficult to read - but so essential. I cannot wait for the sequel.

I liked that this book had diverse characters and found family and treated friendship with more weight than the romance. I felt that the “foreshadowing” was heavy handed and with the main character’s inner monologue, the twist was visible from miles away. I really think the concept was good but the execution needed some work.
