This was my first step into the works of VE Schwab and I throughly enjoyed it! I would say the ending seemed a little rushed which was a shame and although it’s a standalone, it would be interesting to see what happens from here because it is in the same dilemma it started in… but it was a great read and I’d highly recommend

The world building was fantastic and the gothic setting was beautiful. It was also nice to see a mute main character. However the ending left me wanting in a bad way. I felt like the whole journey was for nothing. Not much really changed and there were so many questions I had left. But overall the book and writing was beautiful.
