This was good but not great. It very much felt like a grief project for the author which is powerful in its own way, but missed the mark for me.

This book is perfect. It’s raw and well done. For someone to write a graphic memoir about losing your mom and just encapsulating grief perfectly while telling their story, it’s just so well done.

dancing at the pity party sees feder simply excels not only in making readers care abt her mum w/in only a few pgs, but also masterfully evokes the pain and struggles that such a monumental loss creates.

feder's reflection, feelings, emotions and sentiment following her mum's diagnosis and subsequent death sting w/ their strange yet recognizable familiarity abt loss, despair, the neverending wrangling of being ok yet forever changed and the constant, low thrumming state of living w/ such a loss. rarely has a book made me feel and reflect so deeply abt loss, in all its messy, complicated reckoning. one thing that differentiates this book from so many others that share the same subject matter, however, is how it uses humor w/ abandon, to cope and foreshadow and reflect, and i rly enjoy this aspect and how familiar it is.

the art complements the story and never distracts, and at times utilized to great effect to portray important scenes and evoke emotions. in fact i quite admire how the simple art is able to make me feel so much, such a good blend of story and art this book has.

Lovely book about going through loss of a parent at a young age. When Rhonda died, I felt so sad even though I barely know her😅😅
