I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sometimes poignantly mundane, sometimes magically surreal the stories here explore a shared reality of tragedy and hope and the unending yearning for a better world.

i loved the writing style of these interconnected stories. i preferred the chapters that were more connected than those that weren’t, so i would say i enjoyed the relationships and characters in about half the book.

Hard to follow what was happening with all the different storylines in audiobook format. May try a different format later

This was beautifully written and worth reading, but I didn't feel like it really went anywhere.

Largely stories about Tamil Sri Lankans, both in the motherland and post American immigration (New Jersey truly is the land of opportunity), this is a novel only in the loosest sense, more of a melancholy collage.
