Far less emotionally harrowing than the two books preceding it. The mystery is rather secondary to all the marvelous side characters.

After all the stress and tension and peril of the previous installment, this one has slightly lower stakes (only slightly) but is also lovely for the fact that you get to see the relationship between Ramses and Nefret now everything is settled (so to speak). And there's the usual amount of bodies, mystery, adventure etc but now you get more of Nefret's perspective and contribution (you know what I mean) in Manuscript H which is also great.

3.5 stars - continuing to work my way through the series, listening to the brilliant Barbara Rosenblat. After the heady heights of Falcon and Thunder, this book felt a bit like a novella in comparison. Not so memorable but still hugely enjoyable and I'm enjoying the gradual redemption of the notorious MC!
