a Trainwreck…

I really don’t know why people talk about this book. It starts off with grooming and underage girl… then leads to average smut back to back. There is literally no plot at all. It’s a coming of age story yet she finds herself by fucking her uncle and cousin. The ending is good i guess if you don’t really think about it? It’s like a train wreck… i simply couldn’t stop reading it but there was nothing really impressive about it.

The strangest book to end 2024 on, think I need to read some light fluffy coffee shop romance now please …

The things I loved about this book:
1. Tiernan finding herself after having to deal with the parents that she was given. I'm glad she came out of her shell and experienced life.
2. The ending!! That is exactly what I wanted to happen and I'm glad it did.
3. The taboo step sibling relationship. They aren't blood related!!
4. The possessiveness, touch her and die attitude of the 3 men.

Things I didn't like about the book:
1. I thought it was a little longer than it needed to be.
2. Tiernan's occasional back and forth, should I do them or shouldn't I do them. Just do them already!!

I honestly couldn't put the book down and work got in the way of my reading.
challenging tense medium-paced

Spicy AF, unconventional, but I was not happy

OVERALL RATING: ⭐⭐⭐ It Was Okay

I don't have anything to say. Kidding. Of course, I'm going to review this book.

From all the hints on social media, I already knew that this was going to be taboo. The kind of book that made people clutch their pearls even as they consumed the story that left them talking about it—maybe not favorably—but still, talking about it.

I've read Bully and Punk 57 by the author, so going into this, I got the vibe that the characters will not be the kind that's easy to like/love—they'll be flawed and fucked up—but I will still end up liking them anyway. That's the impression I have about PD's writing.

Still, I had no idea what the story or general plot was. I didn't even take a peek at the blurb because I wanted to get into this book as blindly as possible, to see if it can deliver on the promise of shock factor and spice. Findings: Shock factor, no. Spice, yes.

I enjoyed most of the book. The author's writing was simply compelling because I never got bored or tempted to put it down unless necessary. I was also excited to get to the depraved parts (and what does that say about me? don't know, don't care). I felt connected to Tiernan, as if we were on a ride together, in sync (although at one point I was asking her why she won't just leave them), and then at some point (around 75~80%, I think), she took a turn and left me spinning where I was. Confused.

I was disappointed with how things went. Not even because this didn't end up a why choose. (If you got this book thinking it's reverse harem, I'm sorry, but you'll be disappointed.) I guess her choice was just so unbelievable to me.

➸ Her falling in love with Kaleb felt so abrupt. She wasn't really thinking about him in that way before he blew up and she found out what his deal was. I personally love them broken ones too, but I wish I had seen the development of those feelings for him, or the difference had been made clearer. Unlike with Jake and Noah, who she said she loved at multiple points in the book, and with whom she spent loads of time and really connected with.

➸ She was lusting after Jake and Noah for what felt like a long time, even had tender feelings for them, and then suddenly that was turned off? I think it would've been believable to me if she still felt those feelings for a while yet, but fought them off to stay loyal to Kaleb. I couldn't help feeling like Noah and Jake got used and then discarded. That easily.

➸ Also, I wasn't a fan that Jake ended up with Mirai. Was that done out of pity? Idk.

If I'm to summarize this book, I will say this: There were three boys in a playpen sharing a toy. One boy scarred the toy a few times, and then threw a tantrum because he didn't want to share, so the other kids gave the toy to him. The end.

His dad and brother coddled him, so no wonder he behaved the way he did. And now they rewarded his bad behavior. Ugh.

SWOON SCORE: 🦋🦋 One Sigh, No Replay

I may have felt a bit swoony, but not because of the MMC.

SPICE LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Off the Charts

Suffice to say, this one was spicy as hell.

DID I LAUGH? Yes, I think.

DID I CRY? Nope.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS? Yes. Like I said, the writing was compelling, and if you love taboo or unconventional romances, then this might do it for you.
