Of Letters They Are Made - Jonathan Edelstein **
Gives a lovely sense of the melange of a city which is a hub for trade and transport among various cultures and the magic and power in the different languages used there, but the plot never got going for me.

A Late Quintessence - Justin Howe ***
A story of the power of ideas, as a recently-retired Magister charged with destroying every trace of an executed playwright's work finds scraps of their lines cropping up again. Mostly flashback of an interrogation, nicely put together.
