I preferred the first book tbh. This wasn’t a bad read at all but there was a lot happening and it was a bit difficult to get fully invested in certain pieces. Definitely thought the ending was an interesting cliff hanger and I had an itch that it would turn out the way it did because of how certain characters kept trying to force a certain truth (felt too forced to actually end up being reality).
My biggest critique (and this may be wholly personal) was the mix of Norse and Greek mythology. I understand taking inspiration from those but I didn’t like mixing things Valhalla and Tartarus as the comparisons between heaven and hell.
If you’re going to give a world a religious background, should have stuck to one. Not mixed old mythologies with modern hints of Christianity. As someone who’s used to reading books like this, it was confusing to truly understand the underlying rules that governed the society.
