I found every character in this book deeply unlikeable. Also, it’s supposed to be funny? There was no “dark humor” as advertised. It’s the first book I considered being a DNF.

This book is a fast read giving you a slice of life take on two sisters living in New York. It showed the ups and the many downs of living with a sibling you don’t get along with. The mundanities of work and relationships. All while trying to navigate change and thinking about your own self worth.
The two sisters love each other but often don’t get along. The older sister, Jules has picked up nasty habits that she begins to recognize come from their own abusive mother. She lashes out at poppy for her own insecurities.
Poppy not having anywhere else to go puts up with the attitude and dysfunction from their relationship. Occasionally calling Jules out, which she does not want to hear.
Poppy begins to grow into her own person but Jules sees her as trying to replace her. Even through all of this they somehow stick together. The water you swim in is the water you swim in.
