I am completely unqualified to comment on the writing style due to her studies on the subject, nor can I remain within my right to critique her portrayal of her own experiences. However, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed her story, and I remained enticed through the unfailing manner in which her personality bled through her writing and her unique style. Every experience was tilted in her perspective, integrating emotions into typically objectified experiences, and it was clear that every nonlinear anecdote and explored observation was thought through with the care it deserves for both the audience and the author.

Her perspective as a modern advocate with an average experience rather than a historical figure or textbook source brings a casual twist to the typical disabled nonfiction. This provides a current adaptation on the progression of disabled history after those most look to in order to learn it. It provides a thorough look into disabled culture and the disabled community at its core after the impacts of disabled history’s heroes from the perspective of a casual participant.

Her position gives her the ability to examine intersectionality from many perspectives that are usually ignored, such as the harmful impacts of exclusively nondisabled feminism. Nondisabled feminism often hinges on fierce independence, and although people having the space to be themselves, independence is often not the best or safest option. Such emphasis also negatively impacts the mentality of disabled women because they feel they are not valued or seen in the movement due to their needs. Feminism is important and a crucial movement within society, but intersectional feminism is the only way that the movement itself will be able to succeed. Without listening to and supporting the voices of queer, BIPoC, and disabled women, feminism can not truly be feminist nor have success.

With such ideas in mind, the author highlights her own privileges, and her exploration of intersectionality and diversity, within and out of the disabled community, is an important addition to her narrative as it demonstrates the importance of true inclusion within movements and society. Her clarification of her own privileges also serves as a reminder that intersectional identities still benefit the oppression of others while still being oppressed themselves.

The intersection of the themes within the life of one person are also examined to its fullest extent, from the mental influence of the factors on her younger self to the actions of that of her older. Her study on sexuality, sexiness, and her disability provide an important resource, especially for younger disabled women, for the following of incomplete stories in which people cope with the damage of images society instills such as this.
