A really great book, but I definitely prefer the podcasts! Aaron's writing style definitely suits an audio format better.

Another amazing installment of this podcast-turned book series that I absolutely love. The focus this time around is on haunted places and collects everything from lighthouses to cities to forests and asylums. There are some familiar stories in here, but most of them were new to me. The writing style created an engaging, atmospheric read throughout and made every urban legend truly feel like a haunting ghost story. Add in some creative, creepy illustrations, and you have a book perfect for fans of horror, urban legend, and mystery.

Still just ghost stories, and not much to differentiate it from the previous book

Well researched, fairly presented folklore compiled with the aim of giving the reader a thrill. Overall a great book. The writing is a little cheesy, but it honestly endeared the book and the author to me.

More location-based stories this time, so they're primarily ghost stories and horrible historical events. Still enjoyable if you like the podcast. Also apparently I got a good portion of the way into my ebook version and just never finished? So this review is based off my much later re-start on the audiobook version. Whoops.

Standard content warnings for stories of this ilk apply but BIG content warnings for discussion of child abuse/body horror in the story about the warlock cult.

I reviewed #1 in more depth — #2 and #3 progressively had more original content that I haven’t heard in the podcasts. I think this was probably my favorite of the three! There were in depth stories about specific individuals and I connected more to each tale.

My quick review is that I love the Lore podcast, I loved all three books, and I don’t care if some of the content was duplicated between the podcast and the books. I’m happy to hear it all again. The audiobooks are great because it’s like listening to the podcast, but I get credit toward my reading challenge, ha!

I recommend you check them out from the library if you’re unsure.

Nice background audio listen. While I do feel some of the stories leaned too much into the folklore aspect, when I know they have confirmed explanations, the author did a good job of telling the stories in an engaging way. It was also nice to hear the author narrate the story.
