A cute story about a “young sleuth” (gosh, that specific phrase was used plentifully) cracking her first case. It was pretty predictable for me, but I still liked it.
I don't remember if I read these when I was a young girl. It is a great book; the only thing Nancy Drew needs is a cell phone!
Until I was introduced to Nancy Drew in fifth grade, I hated reading (yes, your English teacher just admitted that!). I remember reading about Nancy's adventures, becoming lost in the mystery and suspense of each crime she had to solve, and I would completely shut-out the rest of the world. This also marked the time in my life when I became a writer. I wanted to be Carolyn Keene. I wanted to captivate readers the same way she had captivated me. I can honestly say that without Nancy Drew I might not be an English teacher today!
A "3" for me, a "5" for a younger girl. She's so cute; she's devious, smart, sincere, well-meaning, and a believer in karma! :)
This is the simplest book to read so of course it took me nearly two months!! It’s so simple that it’s easy to ignore for long periods of time. But still cute and classic so I’m going to read them all.
I didn’t read any Nancy Drew growing up, but agreed to do so when I encouraged my daughter to read the mysteries and she answered, “have you ever read them?”
And so, I plunged headlong into the pools of unrealistic cheese. Lots of gosh and gee willikers moments.

I loved this old story. It's obviously very different than books we would read today, but it got my heart beating a couple times wondering if the young sleuth would escape in time. I'm glad I finally got to read a Nancy Drew book.

Library book via Libby! I enjoyed it - light, easy, quick read. Cute, if a bit naive and outdated. Will come back to it to support my library if I need another palate cleanser.
