The story was very engaging and captivating such that I had a hard time putting the book down. I couldn’t help but want Cadence, our main character, to finally uncover the secrets of what had transpired on the island, which she fails to remember and which her family keeps from her. I found myself reading the novel searching for clues that point to solving the mystery, sometimes flipping back to previous pages to analyze certain parts of the story. I quite like the style of the book where it’s written in little slivers of the truth, sprinkled throughout the pages. In totality, We Were Liars pushes you to question everything and leaves you with a shocking ending. At least, that’s what it did for me.

This was a very interesting read. I think it was well done and enjoyed the short chapters and stories throughout. The ending is quite a shocker and left me thinking for hours about how greed can corrupt people so badly. It is short and definitely worth it.

Honestly…I didn’t like the writing style in the book. I loved the plot and the plot twist was amazing and I usually catch on to the “surprise” plot twist. I still have so many questions about the end. This book made me think about for days.

I only give this a 4.5 because sometimes I wasn't a big fan of the writing format/style. It caused me to get lost from time to time. However, the story was a MAJOR rollercoaster. I won't say more as to not spoil anything but I have never cried so hard reading a book in my life. I wasn't a fan of how it ended and don't see it as a book I would re-read. However I don't at all regret reading it. Just don't think I could handle putting myself through it again lol
