This was my first Manga I have ever read! I really did enjoy this. I took some getting used to: reading the opposite way but I got used to it. the concept of death note was really interesting and it was great! If you are trying to get into Manga/The Graphic Novel World I highly recommend starting with this. really excited to get to the next one ((:

Oh, I loved this book so much; and it turned out that this edition had the first two volumes in - happy, happy hours reading. It's a great concept for this thriller mixing crime and real life with the supernatural; and also makes you wonder, who is the good guy in this book. Teenager "Light" - curious name, especially considering the subject - finds this notebook, this death note. It's been dropped by a Shinigami, or Japanese death god. This book has the power of death, so he can write a person's name in the book and how they will die - and then it will happen. Light's top of the class, convinced by his own marvellousness, and is sure he is going to save the world and make it a better place with his good deads. So he starts killing off criminals of the world. The police cotton on that something funny is going on, and although it's criminals who are dying, know that this is still murder, and they investigate. The person orchestrating these deaths, referred to as Kira, will face the death sentance if caught. And led by "L", they begin to close in. And of course Light can't kill of L until he knows L's real name and what he looks like. So the game is on. Who will win? I don't know because this is only the first two books!

İlk defa manga okudum, biraz da kızımla ortak bir şey daha olsun diye. Beğendim bunu. Tabii ki gerçeküstü öğelerin egemenliğinde bir metin; ama kurgusu, diyalogları zayıf değil. Klişeleri kullansa da tamamen onlara yaslanmıyor.
Nasty twisted little story looking forward to seeing where it goes
Instantly entertaining and engrossing. A little cliche in parts which is honestly fine. I do really love cops and robbers/cat and mouse stories. Nihilistic undertones very reminiscent of Crime and Punishment.
I really like it so far. Though I am torn with what the main character is doing. But I like this darker manga considering I'm used to Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho.
