I love Laurie Keller's books! They are have just enough adult humor to keep both parents and children engaged as they read. I loved the idea of a "tuber uber" and also of potato's wearing pants and doing the "po-bot" instead of the robot dance. Good book about forgiveness and how being unforgiving can stop you from enjoying the things you want to enjoy the most. Including potato pants!

Read this one at story time today (upper elementary kids) and they loved it. Had them laughing with every potato pun and melodramatic turn.

Straight from the mouths of 2nd graders:

"The book is so good. I LOVE it! It is so funny and crazy! It is awesome!"
"I love that they forgave each other."
"This book is super duper cool."
"What a remarkable source of comedy!"
"I LOVED this book! I liked how sometimes you didn't know what was coming next. Someday I'm going to write books of my own."
"My favorite part was when the eggplant said sorry."
"This book is great for kids. It is also hilarious. I love the part with the potato pants. So take my advice and read this book!"

I couldn't have said it better myself. :) The five star rating is straight from the students as well. It really is a great book and a fun readaloud that I am thrilled to be adding to my library collection!

Nominated for the 2020 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Awards, only half the school has read it so far and now we are on Corona virus break - but the older students thought it was a funny book. All of the students loved the message of being afraid of someone because of how they behaved once and then learning that that person was not really scary - just careless. Some of us paired it with last year's nominee Giant Pants. I recommended that they all go home and design pants for their potatoes.

Just whimsical, fun to read aloud, with some good lessons underneath without preaching them.

This is a totally fun book about making mistakes and asking for forgiveness that everyone will love!

Potato has been waiting for TODAY. Because today is Potato Pants Day and he gets a brand new pair of pants. Yesterday was Eggplant Pants Day, but today is Potato Pants day. Only problem is, Eggplant just flew right by him, knocking him out of the way and taking one of the new pair of potato pants!! And would you believe all the pants are now GONE!! This is a funny little story about apologizing and forgiveness. When you open the first pages, it’s easy to get lost in this adorable little potato world with scenery and clothing, allowing you to find more minute details the longer you stare (LOL @ tuber uber — potato driving a car). These humorous illustrations were created with markers, colored pencils, pen and ink, acrylic paint, potato stamps, collage, and digital drawing.
