It was kind of cute. Damsel is the vampire instead which is a new twist

I lost it at the part where Frederick Fitzwilliams tell the main character that his special vampire super power is manifesting fruit when he’s anxious or stressed and I was trying sooooo hard to push through and finish it.

This was a cute little read. A few of my friends had read this one over the holidays, so when it was available at the library I picked it up. It is definitely not meant to be taken seriously, this is just a fun, comedic, little story.

For one, although I know that it is based on a certain fanfiction pairing that sooo many other booktok favorite books have been based on, I do not like that pairing, so I simply chose to view the characters in my own way. I will say, I enjoyed that this author made the character descriptions vague enough that I was able to separate the two. I honestly forgot like halfway through who the two characters were modeled after.

The one thing I will say about this book is that I did not seem to find a plot line while I was reading it. There’s obviously the whole vampire fitting into the modern world subplot, and then the struggling artist finding her dream career subplot, and the
subverting vampire stereotypes subplot, but that’s just it… they were all subplots. Even the romance, which I would assume is the main plot line, is meh at best. It’s more like we were just dropped into the novel and got to experience these characters living their normal day to day lives, like a filler episode on an early 00s sitcom. Despite the lack of a main plot line, I did enjoy what I read.
