I can’t say that I enjoyed this book but at the same time, I can’t say that I hated it.
It took me a lot longer to finish than I had thought, but that’s mainly because I found it hard to get into.

I enjoyed the concept of the book. However, I felt that it fell short in its execution.

I could partially relate to the FMC but not enough that I felt invested in knowing more about her or her hobbies ETC. She had a bad habit of repeating herself or actions. “He’s so cold to the touch,” “he’s so attractive,” “placed my hand where his heartbeat would’ve been.” Yes, we get it…
The MMC was more tolerable, but I feel that is basically because the book is written completely in our FMC’s POV.

I did not enjoy the ending, or the last few pages leading up to it.
I feel the author wrote herself into a situation she wasn’t sure how to get herself out of, and it just felt flat. Although the story ties off almost all the aspects of the story, it always just feels like they didn’t all intertwine well with each other, but that may also have been because of my inability to become in invested in the story.

For those who want to know which piece I felt was not tied off please see below:
So, as we reach the conclusion of the book we don’t really ever get the answer of if she turned or not. It is basically left at “I’ll think about it.”

Overall, not the best but not the worst.
Based off of the writing and storytelling I don’t think I’ll be picking up this author again.

This book fell flat for me. Cassie was a typical messy main character who is trying to get it together and even though in the end she lands a great job, she does not grow as a character at all. All other characters, including the vampire love interest, are completely one dimensional. Within romance books, I don't have a strong preference for single or dual POV, but I think having chapters from Frederick's perspective could only have helped in this case.

The book also could have used some editing. In particular I found the timeline confusing at best and even contradictory a few times.

Predictable drama/romance plot. Low on stakes (no pun intended); slow boil, then sudden escalation and resolution in time for the epilogue. But did like the little chapter openers being correspondence from other characters' point-of-view, rather than the main protagonist.

Reginald was the best character. I am so sorry but her trash art and his
accidental fruit summoning.... WHAT???
Frederick was adorkable but like would I ever in a million years be attracted to his character? NO. I enjoyed the funnies most of the time but generally the humor did not hit with me. It's like a rom-com meets a bit of outdated humor, like you can definitely tell the author is trying really hard to put internet references in and it feels weird. I wish books would stop mentioned pop culture but maybe that's a me thing. Overall I had a fun giggle time and I will read Reginald's book 1000%

“also need to borrow your little plastic money card thing one last time.”

“Everything I have heard about the internet makes it sound like a cancer upon the modern world. I am not certain I want it.”

“He might be an undead creature of the night - but as undead creatures of the night went, he was a marshmallow.”

“Over my dead body.”
“That’s easy enough to arrange,”

“By the time you knew what I really was, I wanted you to think I was impressive. Not just some clueless accidental kumquat conjurer.”
LOL

3.5 stars. This was cute and fluffy and had some hilariously cringeworthy moments (the text conversations between the first few chapters were great). It seemed like 80% of the plot happened in the last 15% of the book though, so honestly that weird pacing lowered my opinion of the book as a whole. It was a nice fluffy brain break, but neither one I’d really recommend nor one I plan on returning to.

I liked it but
the whole kidnapping thing was kinda weird and the blackmailing plan was so unbelievable lol. No one was going to believe that video anyway, cause everyone would think it's fake, but oh well. Centuries old vampires are dumb I guess xd

his was cute and funny which is exactly what I was expecting. The ending was a bit far-fetched and simplistic compared to the rest of the novel though. I did enjoy reading a story set near where I live because it made it more relatable. I haven’t read many vampire stories but it felt like the author did a good job with that trope.

I love that this is a vampire novel where the vampire doesn’t want an 18 year old girl, but a 30 something with financial instability. So much more relatable!
