“Hate to break it to you, but adulthood is just a never-ending cycle of chores, obligations, googling how to fix stuff, and spending money on things you hate. Like sponges and dish detergent.”

The first two thirds of the book went kind of slowly for me, but at the same time, it was an easy read from start to finish – overall it was a fast, fun read (I know this is kind of paradoxical – it was slow but it was fast… I don’t know what to tell you, though, that’s how it felt like). I was anxious!! Like, I wanted them to bond, to live their lives in the future instead of just panicking alone, isolating themselves, wishing to go back. I guess what happened was that it wasn’t intense and barely anything happened  – that’s why it felt kind of slow. The last third, however, was so intense, I was SEATED, on the edge of my seat, wanting for things to unravel and could not put the book down. The first two halves were kind of meh, like… lacked this intense feeling that is delivered later. (btw I cried a lot in the end)

“I’m the tertiary character. The overachieving mom-friend who takes care of everyone in the background but does zero to advance the plot.”

3.5 actually, muy tierno

My fellow "I function based on lists" people will thoroughly enjoy this one.

Woke Up Like This isn't your regular high school romance - our main character suddenly finds herself going from a 17-year-old prepping for prom to a 30-year-old prepping for her wedding with her arch nemesis. Did I mention they hate each other? (Or do they?)

I related to the growth our characters go through and if you enjoy enemies-to-lovers tropes you'll be rooting for them as well. There's also a lot of wisdom in these pages aimed towards people who find it difficult to be in the now. Highly recommended.

I really liked this book ☺️🩷!

'Woke Up Like This' reminded me of the movie 13 Going On 30 and frankly speaking, I think the book is much better than the movie.

This book was cute, funny, wholesome, emotional, with some soul searching conversations between both the teenage and adult versions of Charlotte and J.T..

J.T. Renner is an absolute green flag 💚💚.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Mindy's Book Studio and the author Amy Lea for the digital ARC of the book.

Oh this was fun. 13 Going On 30 but as seniors in high school. Thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a morning.
