I should admit up front that I don't read romance novels and I rarely watch Hallmark movies so this book really isn't up my alley. Why did you pick it up, you ask? Because I'm trying to finish a book challenge before the end of the year and one of the prompts is "a book with the word bridge in the title." Add that to the fact that this book is short and was available immediately from the library and voila.
The kindle version I read started with the prequel book giving backstory on the characters who own the bookshop and why they started it. I'm glad I read that first, it gave at least a little depth to the characters, other than that they were mere caricatures, interchangable with any breathing humans.
This book is essentially a Christian Hallmark Christmas movie where all the problems could have been avoided if the two people had just talked to each other instead of assuming. If you enjoy that kind of thing, definitely read this book. If not, give it a hard pass.

A good book. I hadn’t read anything by Karen Kingsbury before and I thought I’d try reading a book of hers. I liked this one overall but I felt like the religious part was a little too much for me. I didn’t mind that they were praying to God to help them find a miracle for Charlie, but the other stuff seemed a bit too much for me. The ending was okay but I didn’t like that Ryan assumed that Molly would move to Nashville. He should’ve asked her if she would move and if she said no he should’ve offered. I know The Bridge Bookstore is near Nashville and the assumption was that they would stay close to Charlie, but still. For Molly to be a free bird without a cage, Ryan sure assumed that she would move to Nashville and open a branch of her organization and have babies with him. I know I just criticized it a lot, but this book was good despite the things I didn’t like. It made me cry when Charlie crashed and when he woke up. I don’t cry while reading very often.
I don't know why I read this. I don't know why I wanted to read this. Because, it sucked. It was an inspirational, first off. One of the genres I don't read. It was short. It was schmaltzy. The story was ludicrous. The owner of a bookstore can't find a way to make ends meet after a flood, so in a "It's a Wonderful Life" type storyline, he decides to off himself. Except, at the last minute, he doesn't want to die. So, he gets in the accident and winds up in a coma. Then, these two star-crossed lovers (except, no sex, because it's an inspirational, and a kiss was all they did after 2 years fer fecks sake), who haven't seen each other for a bunch of years, come to his aid. Of course, in an O'Henry type fashion, there are misunderstandings, where they both think the other has moved on, but they still pine for each other, yet hide their true feelings. OMG- if you want to get with that guy, ASK HIM IF HE'S MARRIED, DON'T WEAR YOUR DEAD MOTHER'S WEDDING RING TO PRETEND YOU ARE MARRIED. Urgh, the stupid, it burns. Then, the town rallies around the guy in the coma, a Christmas miracle happens because of prayer (rolling eyes right here), and everyone gets a happily ever after. Even the star-crossed lovers who confess to each other that they still want each other, and the idiot guy of course proposes as soon as she confesses she still loves him even though multiple years have passed. Just kill me now.
I really liked this story. It is a good lesson to be honest always and to never assume things. When you assume, you leave yourself open for heartache and the potential to hurt others. I also like the knowledge that God wants us to be happy and to do well and will guide us to where we need to be if we just give Him the chance and to listen to Him
This was a really good book.
This is about these two couples, one owns a bookstore called the bridge and the other visits the bookstore, and how this bookstore not only changed the lives of the couples but everyone who goes there. When tragedy strikes the people of the town and the college couple come to help the store and do what they can for the owners of the store. As they do this the college couple, after a few years apart because of what happened when in college, come together again to help the couple that helped them.
I really enjoyed this one but not as much as Karen's other books. I still love her writing and story but some of her other books I enjoyed more than this one.
The characters are great and the story was good and I enjoyed that it was centered around the Christmas time, it made it more enjoyable to me because I love Christmas.
It was a fast read and very good and heart warming..I really enjoyed this book

Sweet, quick read. Your typical boy meets girl, falls in love, something separates them, many years later they reunite and discover the truth story. Really nice to see characters relying on the power of God!

I enjoyed reading scenes that referred to the Nashville area because I'm familiar with it, but found this book to be super cheesy with lots of Christian language that's not realistic.
3,5 estrelas.
Um romance mesmo giro, daqueles que nos deixa com um sorriso nos lábios no final!!!
