Holy moly this was a cheese fest. Also, I was able to tell my sister the entire story in 20 minutes, and this was a 4 hour audiobook. So it was 3 hours and 40 minutes of fluff, for about 20 minutes of actual story.

I really liked this book. I cried at least 4 times while I was reading it. Of course it has a happy ending - I mean, it's a Christmas novel - don't they all have happy endings? Anyway, the idea of a bookstore where one could go and just hang out and read books to your boyfriend/girlfriend and become so involved with the owners that you were considered family is heartwarming. I would love to go there. To even go to a bookstore where the owners actually worked there and knew the books that they sold enough to make recommendations to their customers seems unusual. I love the way Charlie Barton kept his faith in God, loved his wife and loved books. I loved the relationship between Molly and Ryan, too. I just loved everything about this book. I have read some of Karen Kingsbury's books before and she always gets to my heart. Great book! Loved it!

I did enjoy this book, but I must say it was very predictable and almost a little too sappy. I craved a little more substance.

I haven't read many Karen Kingsbury books, but this was recommended to me by a friend. I thought this was a very sweet, heartwarming story, and I love that it was set during Christmastime. One complaint I have is that it was very short - it ended rather abruptly when at the very least it could have used an epilogue. I also feel that there was not enough in the story about the two main characters, Ryan and Molly. They have next to no interaction with each other throughout the book except in flashbacks; however, I still really enjoyed the story, especially the part towards the end with Donna and Charlie. It will bring tears to your eyes. So, overall, I would recommend this book. It is a quick read and perfect to read at this time of year.

Shorter than most of her books. More like a novella.

This is not my usual read, but it was a book club pick, so there you go. The story was an inspirational, quick read with an extremely cliche plot and characters. The only character I believed was the store owner, Charlie because he was the only one with any human flaw. There was one scene toward the end that saved this story from birdcage liner status.

I love the book. It was a fast read. I wish that the movie had followed it a little closer, but that happens. I may start reading more Karen Kingsbury books because of this one.

It was predictable, as all her books are. Too neat and tidy and there was nothing new or interesting in the storyline.

Great short read!

Well I must admit I am not a big fan of this author. I have read one maybe two other books by her and so far I am not all that impressed. I was super excited about reading this one because it is set in my hometown but didn't really see any true links to Franklin besides the mentioning of the town name and one other place that may or may not have a direct connection. The bookstore may or may not have been a fictitious version of our bookstore downtown but not real sure about that either.

Although it was a short easy read, the story just didn't ring true to me. The story relied to heavily to the past with the present woven in. It was alright but just wasn't what I expected from an author who has such high ratings and in a genre I really enjoy. I probably wouldn't recommend this unless you just want a quick easy read in this genre.
