Book 2 in the Lucky River Ranch series is a friends-to-lovers story between Sally and Wyatt. It is heartwarming and sweet, and Jessica did a great job weaving grief and emotional vulnerability into the story, especially with Wyatt and his struggle with loss that felt raw and real. His fiercely loyal, protective nature made him an easy character to root for and love.

That said, there were a few moments where the story fell a bit flat for me. I connected more deeply with Wyatt than I did with Sally, as given her age, her character came across naive at times, and whilst her struggles with her insecurities were mostly relatable, they also became frustrating/tedious for me to read. There were sections where the emotional pacing felt uneven. The interactions between the brothers were fun, and so far I'm enjoying the strong family bonds in this series. The spice in this was great, especially the scene in the barn. 🥵

Overall, I liked and enjoyed the second installment of this small-town Cowboy series. Lila Winters and Stephen Dexter are back narrating and did just as great a job with this as they did in book 1. I'm looking forward to getting hold of Sawyer when it releases.🌶🌶🌶

"I do miss you," I blurt. "All the fucking time, Sally. I worry you'll forget about me. I'm happy you're living your dream-don't get me wrong. But life...it's suddenly all so different, you know? My parents died. And right now, with you, is the first time I feel like I might not die too."

"You're like sunshine, you know? Sounds cheesy, but it's true. I always feel so much better when you're around. "
Her swallow is audible. "I'll be your sunshine any time, Wyatt.'"

"Lucky for you"- oh God, oh God, Wyatt is slipping a hand onto my face, using his palm to angle my mouth up toward his--"I'm tight with God, and I'll have you saying his name often. Eventually, though I'd like you to say mine instead."

4 stars. This was a fun time. I wish there was an emphasis on the lessons trope, but still it was cute fun and spicy.

I LOVED Wyatt and Sally! Also… cum in his pants. A secret tattoo. A tiny bit of rope play. This book had it all!
