no time bc of uni :(

well, that was fantastic.
even if you're not that into Chicano studies/women's studies, this is still a must-read. it has so much to do with healing the Self in order to begin healing society and hits home on so many topics regarding identity, spirituality, and living counter to harmful/traumatic social norms. there's also POETRY!

foundational, if a bit outdated in some areas per the reviews of people smarter than me. nothing intelligent for me to add--the poetry is angry and beautiful.

Demasiado deslavazado, poemas cuando no toca, generalidades, parones con palabras constantes en inglés que no aportan nada, notas al pie constantes... no he conectado nada.

this book was fascinating to read. the uses of metaphor were absolutely beautiful, and the author's deep connection with her own soul, her race, and the soul and the life of the land she grew up in could not have been made more clear. her poems have so much nuance and careful word choice that anger, sadness, joy, lust, disappointment and pride can all bleed off the pages in one poem or essay alone. this book encapsulates that writing is not just a tool, but an art form.
