So powerful, so tragic. I've learnt so much about borders, history and Mexican culture and beliefs, migration.

Incredible book!

Good poetry is wasted on me.

This is an incredible book. It is written mostly in English but there is a lot of Spanish, so I think you’d need to be bilingual to be able to read it all.

Anzaldua is out there! Great book, found lots of fabulous and important excerpts to use with my class.

There are a lot of reasons why this is a book that so many return to again and again, and moreso, a very important book. Anzaldua's work with the border crossings of many identities (intersectionality) was ground breaking in 1987 when this book was first published, and is just as relevant and important today. I don't know how I got so far along in my academic career with only reading selections of this book. I don't know yet how much this book changes my perceptions, but I can see clearly how it will continue to be a text I return to.

The unapologetic bilingual construction of it all is incredible, as are the reflections on mixed identity.
