It's not the best poetry collection in the world, but I don't think anybody has claimed that it's supposed to be. This collection's main audience was always going to to be Supernatural fans, because we're overwhelmingly eager to give our money to this man.
I remember when the acknowledgement page leaked on Amazon, and Tumblr realized Vicki and Misha had separated. Though I got into spn later (and therefore wasn't as much of a freak about it, I suppose), I remember talking with a few of my mutuals who had had more extended parasocial relationships with the cast about how this felt like reading poems written by your dad about divorcing your mom. This is an incredibly invasive and harmful way of thinking, and we really shouldn't be caring that much about this man's personal life, but seeing such deeply personal poems about Misha only fuels the parasociality.
There are some genuinely beautiful poems in this collection, but so many more fall flat. Ultimately, it's of my opinion that poetry can't be truly gut-wrenching if it's fandom-i-fied, and I think that's where Some Things I Still Can't Tell You is weakest. It's still too connected to the show. (That being said, weaknesses in the Supernatural fandom aside................ Which poem do we think is about Cas? :P)

Beautifully written and spoken, as I got myself the audible version of this book. Misha puts feelings and experiences we cannot define into the perfect words.
