This is about the power of books.
15th Century Constantinople: Anna and Omeir
20th Century Indiana: Zeno and Seymour
The future: Konstance

I love all the timelines and the story of the book is connected. It was beautiful.

I didn't love how Konstance's story ended. I wished more for her.

The 15th Century timeline portrayed scenes of animal suffering that I skipped.

“Stranger, whoever you are, open this to find what will amaze you.”

A heart breaking, heart warming look at how small we as humans are, and yet we are still deeply, unfailingly interconnected. I hope that as both the beauty and the horror of this world, humanity continues.

Wow I loved this book so much. It's definitely one of my favorites now. It didn't feel like a chore to read any of the 620 pages. The chapters were short, making it really easy to fly through. Sometimes I felt that I wanted to spend more time with the characters, but the continuous stopping and starting had me on the edge of my seat and made me want to keep reading. It's sci-fi, it's historical fiction, it's a Greek comedy, it's an environmentalist tale, it's a novel about the human desire to tell and preserve stories, and it's a book with a lot of bird imagery. What's not to love?
