I am such a sucker for anything Cinderella and this book did not disappoint!
As someone who got their degree in costume design Ella's story resonated with me so much. Between the Cinderella inspiration and the theater and costume life, I was obsessed.
Ella and Cam had INSTANT chemistry and they were PERFECT. I could not get enough of them! From their meet-cute to their collaborations later in the story, they were so good together. And the way Cam was all in with Ella made my heart melt. He was such a phenomenal book boyfriend.
I also think the familial troubles and trustfund kid issues are dealt with well in this book (think Logan and Rory in Gilmore Girls). The commentary on those issues and family dynamics in general were a nice little inclusion without taking too much focus from the plot.
My only disappointments with the book were towards the end and they weren't a huge deal, just a couple things I didn't love.
The last quarter dragged a bit with no real plot or goals. Ella starts a new class but it's mentioned twice and nothing comes of it. We even meet a new character but nothing comes of that either. She's never mentioned again even though we get a whole scene with our FMC making friends with them. If anything I thought she'd at least get her into the sorority for the following year.
Also, personally since this was the first of a series (I know they're standalones but it's the same friend groups and such so they should be somewhat interwoven) I didn't love having sooo much epilogue. When it comes to series that span a whole group of friends, I like having the additional books to check in with the other characters and couples. To me, it's not as fun already knowing everything that happens for the next several years in that situation. This is 100% just a me thing though, some people can't get enough of one particular couple and do want all the extra stories and epilogues and I totally understand that!
Overall, the princess theme drew me in and the characters kept me. I'm excited to read Audrey's book next because while I am a total Cinderella and costumes girl, I'm also a PINK girl 😍
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who liked Icebreaker. Similar vibes but without the sports 🤷🏽♀️

a little too cheesy at times and fell short of the depth it could've had but it was a cute fluffy spicy read :)
