Another must read!!

This one is so emotional for me, even though I’ve read it several times, it still hits me in the feels! I’m just glad it has the laughter and sizzling chemistry and great characters to balance it out!

Jace Sinclair has big shoes to fill. Both of his brothers had been team captain of the Bellevue Bullies. Both of his brothers and been first round draft. Both of his brothers are in the NHL. But Jace is different from his brothers. He wants to spend his final year as a player, hot a hockey player but a sexual player.
Avery Rose left New Jersey to get away from hockey obsession. Her goal is song writer. Her goal is a life where she is cared for instead of tolerated. Above all else she wanted to avoid hockey players.
Neither will get what they want. They will get everything.
The book was a great story of young love. There were a lot of challenging times. There were a lot of sweet, swoon worthy times. The book showed that love can conquer all.
Hooked by Love also has the most terrible villain. Until this book I thought no one could be worse than Dorian. Boy was I wrong. Matty makes Dorian look like a beginner. I want another book just to watch Matty crumble.

3.5 stars??
I have mixed feelings about this book. Im taking it down a notch because I found it to be too long/ longer than it needed to be. Yes it was stereotypical insta-love, but I havent read a book yet that deals with cutting and suicide due to a bad relationship.

I did enjoy that finally the female character is excited and wants to go to a college party because in most of new adult books they tend to dread it and are the plain janes whose roommates always convince them to get all dolled up. Some of the writing was very corny and seemed unrealistic, i mean who honestly says "oh my" anymore? and I mean in a serious way. Also the author randomly puts in a bit where Avery has a southern twang and its mentioned once and never again. So i felt that was unnecessary. I started to get bored at the redundancy of their oh my god i cant believe im with this person they are just perfect and hot, etc, etc. It was like I get it you love them and its amazing, but you're telling me that is literally all you talk about with each other and think.

Another issue I had that made me take down a star was Avery's family dynamics. As messed up and i do mean messed up as her family is, I felt like it was completely just brushed under the rug. No big deal you apologized and all is well. UM.... no i'm sorry what happened to her isnt something a little im sorry would fix. Plus, if i knew my significant other was dealing with that crap i wouldnt keep it a secret/ stand by and just brush it off. I'm not saying i would go against what my S.O's wishes are, but I'd bring it up and try to urge them to confront their family or even open up to my family who their apparently getting really close to.

Overall I did enjoy the book and found the sexy scenes very steamy. I liked the overall background of the characters just again felt it could have been edited a little more so that unnecessary scenes were removed or had certain situations with in the book handled a little different.

So I couldn't give this book a full five star review, mainly because it was super long. The book itself was super emotional and I did feel all of the anger, frustration, heartbreak and stuff, but a lot of the time I was frustrated with Avery's story. I'm not saying it wasn't believable, because growing up I had family members treat me the same way, but I just don't like seeing absolutely no resolution to horrible actions. A villain is a villain, and I think I just like a more positive outlook. Like, we got some of why her brother was so horrid, but there wasn't any remorse from him ever, and I just can't read about people who are clearly psychotic.

My other issue was the jokes on trans-people and the way the characters thought about the LGBT community in terms of the other people in this book. Everytime someone joked about it my irritation skyrocketed and I lost some respect for the characters. I get that they're teens, and yes, teens do that, but I don't like people who talk that way. I'm not usually super defensive about stuff like that, but the fact it came up more than once is what effected me I think.

I also didn't like the part where Avery's therapist had basically told her to move on she needed to forget the demons of her past and focus on her life now. That is never something a therapist should or would say. I also hate that when she talked about her self harm she blamed others actions and when she said it was also her fault for doing it, I felt like it was one of those moments where someone just says it because it's expected... I don't know, her character wasn't a favourite of mine in terms of the way she analysed things and processed them. But I loved Jace. And Lucy! Yay for Lucy! So excited to see her story in Assassins. Personally I liked the Assassin's stories more than BB, but I think that's just because BB is super angsty and stuff.

Overall the book was great, a few flaws but the plot was interesting and the characters really did see some growth throughout.

Wow!! What a rollercoaster of a book, this story had me gripped from the very beginning, and if family hadn't gotten in the way I could of easily of read it in a few hours.

The story itself filled me with so many emotions, at times it was hard to read, but totally worth it. I loved Jace and Avery together, but also separately, and it was great to catch up with Jude, Claire, Jayden and Baylor and anyone who is a fan of the previous two books will love this one too, and I would happily recommend it to everyone, as it really is a beautiful story.

Beautifully heart breaking. Kept me guessing and wanting more. Hoping to see more of these two in Matty's story.

Again I wished I had listen to these in the order they were written, it would have made the story lines match up a lot better.

Over all I enjoyed this book, Jace and Avery overcome a lot in this book and there struggle is real. I forgot how young Jace is because he is so wise.

Don’t get me wrong this story worked but know what I know about Marcus and all that before this book it was again wishing I had listen before that book. So yeah I am glad I finished this series.

I won’t be listing to the other one because the narration is a deal breaker for me.

The narration on this book was fantastic I am a huge fan of both these narrators.

My rating 3 stars.

Things I liked:
-Jace and Avery
-supporting characters
-writing style

Things I thought could be executed better:
-would have liked a bit more hockey in this one
-more resolution with Avery’s family (all I’ll say to avoid spoilers)
-jokes about calling Jace transgender etc. should have been left out.

General Thoughts: I enjoyed it for the most part. It wasn’t my favorite by the author, but enjoyable.

I wish the plot line with again (keeping it spoiler free) what Avery’s family had been fleshed out and developed more. There was a lot going on there, and I think we should have seen more amount from it in all sense of the word. Just like a lot happened leaving me like what the heck? And then nothing was done. It just didn’t work for me. That’s all I’ll say.

I’m interested to see how she keeps this going without the Sinclair family being front and center. They have been the series so far.

Steam Meter: On the more new adult side. There’s definitely sex and detailed sex. However, it felt more new adult-ish to me. It also wasn’t to frequent to distract from plot. This is for 18+.

Romantic Tropes
-sports romance
-fix her romance
-insta-love-ish but also the relationship is well developed
-reform the player
