Cute, uplifting
I really enjoyed this book, I think it reflects very well how insecurities affects out lives and our decisions, but again what I love most about YA is the feel of hope it’s always there. I love Felipe’s relationship with his mom and his relationship with Caio and how it grew through the book.

“Don’t fall in love with someone who doesn’t make /you/ feel beautiful.”
We need more thicc (thighs save lives) representation like this!! Felipé is such a raw character who expresses his feelings through his thoughts so amazingly. There’s such a lovely set of characters that you’d find it difficult to NOT be able to relate to at least one of them. Such a quick, feel good read 🩷

it does do this annoying thing where it’s continual pop culture references, sometimes more than once/pg. yes, we get it: you know abt buzzfeed and fashion snafus and the like. can you give us plot pls 😭
it also has pretty intense internalized fatphobia, which i should’ve thought to look up b4hand. if you’re excited for an mlm read where the narrator isn’t working through continual fatphobia/thinking he’s so ugly because he’s overweight (like i was excited for), you will not find it here. it felt like we traded no conflicted feelings abt being gay for conflicted feelings/internalized fatphobia.
that being said, still a wonderfully cute book; sappy and happy
Graphic: Fatphobia
Moderate: Religious bigotry, Homophobia, Fatphobia, and Bullying
