Explicitly raw. The amount of times I had real tears falling just from the shear fact I continuously felt seen as a mother. Especially since I’ve suffered from postpartum depression and rage, and still struggle with it today. Maybe sometimes, it’s not all in our heads. This book was actually extremely depressing, put me in a weird headspace and really had very little redemption in the end… however, for speculative reasons.

Generational trauma CAN transcend DNA. Were some people doomed before they were even born? Or is it another case of Nature vs. Nurture?

A solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'm not going to do a full review of this but I will say I thought this book was boring. It's supposed to be suspense but it's not suspenseful, it's like the author is afraid to go full thriller at all times and thus is holding the breaks as the story creeps forward. There's one scene that's kind of unsettling right near the end (the dream with the fingers) and that's it. Everything else is boring, predictable, and poorly written.
