Honestly, there's nothing inherently wrong with the book per se, it's just that I can't stand anymore of Belly🙄

It might be that Jenny Han and I just don't click when it comes to love triangles in her books. Because, in my not so humble opinion, Belly chose wrong, and in To All the Boys I've Loved Before, Lara Jean chose wrong. Granted, Belly is an absolute idiot, but still.

It's like, I didn't expect anything from her, and she still managed to disappoint me.

And there was a moment, near the end of the book, where I was starting to get hopeful, because it seemed like she was finally done with Conrad's bullshit. And she kept saying how it felt final and blah blah. And then she went and ruined it. Again.

There's just, my Jere would never. I don't know how they're going to make this work in the TV show, because it's way better and they managed the impossible when making Belly at least somewhat tolerable. And that Jere, my Jere, would never.
Book Jere fucked up, although, in my book, he didn't
cheat, they weren't together. But he was disloyal, which is worse,
and his bullshit excuses ("waa waaaa, I didn't want to") were the cherry on top of the shit cake that was everything Belly touched.

HOWEVER☝🏼 Going for the wet potato, emotionally unavailable, coward, immature asswhole without affective responsibility that was Conrad, was definitely not the right answer.

Jeremiah couldn't have said it any better:
He will let you down, because that's what he does. That's who he is.
And the fact that Belly hasn't learned her lesson and keeps acting like a besotted schoolgirl hooked on her crush like a drug just makes it all even worse.

Honestly, the ending would've been so much better if she had just dumped both of them. But she needs the drama, apparently 🙄

Seriously though, they're gonna need to pull off another miracle in the TV show, because that Jere can do no wrong and this bitch better start appreciating that.

I try to reason that she's a kid, and there's so much growth to do yet, but she doesn't make things easy when she's about to embark in one of the most adult adventures of anyone's lives and she still can't choose between a good man (TV Jere, I mean) and a manchild with a tantrum. Or just choose herself and go on a hike across Europe in her quest for enlightenment, while screwing every hot Spaniard and Scottish man that comes her way.
*Seriously though, what's up with Jenny Han making her FMC the archetype of innocent, naïve, gullible virgins all around? Not that you need sex to really have a profound, loving relationship with a partner, or that waiting for whoever feels like the right person (which Conrad isn't, btw) is wrong. But, like, there's also nothing wrong with enjoying sex with a few partners before settling down, it's part of knowing them and yourself, too. Just saying, the constant glorification of virginity here is cringe.

There are two things that really disappointed me with this book. First I wish that there was more time spent on the actual ending relationship and resolution. Next there are parts of this that feel a little cohesive and instalovey like it is trying really hard to convince the audience it's right. I think over all it could have been written better. I wish that there was more and vetter transition from the youth to more mature and adult themes or that the series as a whole stuck with one or the other instead across a span of time.

i realized as i was reading this that i never finished this series when i was younger??? i knew what happened and who she ended up with and everything so i thought i’d read it but i must’ve picked it u0 through osmosis lol bc this was almost entirely unfamiliar. also this was such an abrupt ending so that kinda sucked, hopefully the show gives me a little more to work with
