Brilliant MMM Romance

When single dad Jayne chats up a gorgeous couple in a club to try and get safely away from his stalker ex, he has no idea just how well they will keep him safe and where their relationship will end up.

This is a brilliant MMM Romance with a triad I absolutely fell in love with.

This is Book 5 of the Single Dads Support Group series and comes a generation after the His Command series.

In this you'll find: MMM Romance with spice; human Omegaverse; Gay & Bisexual MCs; a strong but hurting dominant omega single Dad, with a baby and an orphaned teen brother in his care; a pair of Alphas, who are more submissive than they realized, in a secret relationship they're struggling with; a violent stalker ex; found family; caring family; knotting; and a HEA

I am giving this book 3.5 stars. I liked the polyamory relationship between Jayne, Caleb and Everett. I liked the plot well enough since it had been developed in the last book. I thought the sex was just ok, I think all three of them were cute together. I think I would have wanted to see how this author would have tackled a alpha/alpha relationship, with no third needed in omega form. The author tackled a trans storyline in a previous book, but I think Caleb and Everett were perfect together, with no real need for Jayne, if the book would have written a little differently. It was still good, but felt more forced.

This was another great one, despite it's many flaws.
Much like [b:The Decision|41541485|The Decision (Single Dad Support Group, #4)|Piper Scott|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1535437956l/41541485._SY75_.jpg|64809895], The Promise felt very different from the rest of the series. Again, there was a bigger focus on the family and friend relationships and less of an erotica feel to it - though there was a lot of sex.

Content warnings include: slutshaming, roofying, emotionally abusive (past) relationship with a hung-up ex, stalking, a/b/o setting, arson, sex on-page, mild dominance plac, expectation that the person with a womb has to take care of birthcontrol (challenged); mentions of mpreg and unplanned pregnancy.

Surprisingly, The Promise also had a bit of world building - which would have been great had it not been so terribly disconnected from everything that has (not) been established so far. This is book 5 in a 6 book series, and only now it's mentioned that Betas are, in fact, a thing, and misogyny is very much still existent in this a/b/o setting, but seems to be completely removed from the a/b/o thing.
Another weird thing was how the timeline of the series was really wrong in this book. Whenever a time was mentioned, it was way off the time that has passed since the beginning of the series - made even weirder by how the timeline is right again in the sequel.

As with the previous book(s), I feel like some conversations should have been had earlier or should have happened at all, but overall it was less frustrating than others.

I adored the polyam relationship!!! Everett and Caleb alone were wonderful, and Jayne fit with them perfectly. They had a beautiful dynamic that was inexpected but slotted together incredily well.

At times I felt really uncomfortable, mostly by how beaten down Jayne is and how he expects to be treated badly. Every single time, Caleb and Everett proved him wrong, which was great, and I loved how they made sure that he knew he was respected and how important his consent is in every situation, but... oof.

Parker was exactly as adorable as I had expected, and while I wish there had been a bit more Single Dad shenanigans that's a complaint I had for the other books as well.

So I’ve been waiting for a long time for this book to release, I’ve followed the series from book 1, and I wasn’t disappointed. I was super excited that this book was by far the longest of the series, which helped me enjoy Jayne find love (with a previously established couple) even longer. The sexy times were HOT 🔥, especially their first. so if you love steamy books then this one is def for you. This book is full of all the glitter and snark you could want and the emotions and angst you’re expecting if you’ve been following the series. I

As with all the SDSG books Piper Scott did an amazing job again and teased us even more with knot's secrets! After reading it I wanted to read it all over again (and if I didn't have an ARC waiting and a huge list of too read books I would). Things I loved all the glitter, still love firefly themed names, Parker, the group chats, ties, the dynamic of the MCs, everything! Only complaint with this series as usual is I just want more more more.
