what timing, personally a little on the nose.

given it's topic it was imperative for the time. and considering how much I related to Agnes it shows how timeless the piece is and how it deserves to be the classic it is.

This novel follows a similar storyline to her sister Charlotte’s Villette and Jane Eyre but focuses more on the difference of classes, how the youngest can want to branch out and prove more use to their family, and a more intimate but straightforward romance. Agnes’ relationship with Mr. Weston is perfection. They are equal in faith and mind, while sharing a deeper connection than the others portrayed around them. 100% recommend this because it’s a quick read but really is peaceful. I yearn to be a governess but ugh this world is so corrupt they prize a diploma that equates knowledge….

Sweet, redeeming and excellently written. This might be the most underrated of the Bronte novels.
