tightness of the pace and story begins loosening towards the end, but this was a very timely read. i’m sad in the same way this book is but resolute in the same ways it is, too

This took me a long time to come around to liking. The narrator’s whole view grayed on me initially, but by the end I was won over. This is a “soft apocalypse” book, which is a genre I enjoy. The story grew and grew and by the end I was wanting to follow it forward. I am the parent of two kids and this sort of thing provides a glimpse into the future…..if you believe in climate change. Nice work author! Appreciate the book!

Gonna give this one the benefit of the doubt because Leave the World Behind is a tough act to follow. Lots of similarities between the two. Loved the portrayal of the children's perspectives and how they related to the parents. As someone in between childhood and parenthood it made me think a lot about how children view the adults in their lives and the responsibility we all have to pursue a better world for future generations.

all the twists in this book! a gracefully written imagining of an apocalyptic, climate changed world.
i started and finished the book in 3 days.

A little disappointed after reading all the hype.

Very, good, dark, sad.

This was a unique book, loosely following the main Bible stories but in a modern setting. Started strong, with a good cast of characters and I was intrigued to see how the story panned out. Towards the end it lost a little momentum and came to a fuzzy sort of ending, so didn't quite make 4 stars, but a nice little read.
dark medium-paced

I bought this book because of its cover.

Now, four months after reading it, I still can’t get it out of my head and that’s not because of the beautiful artwork.

What struck me was the authors concept of God as nature, Jesus as science and the Holy Ghost as art. I really like that. Like can’t express with words how much I liked reading that.

It was a bit of a slow-start for me but once I was hooked I just couldn’t put it down.

* Originally gave this 4 stars but bumped it to 5 for how well the author wormed into my head and sparked new avenues of thought. What more could one possibly want from an author than that?
