Highly recommend this book to anyone who feels strongly about AI, one way or another. The author convincingly makes the case for why it is imperative that we learn to coexist with it- as he says, it’s too late to put the genie back in the bottle.

This is not the book for tech people who have followed the development of large language models and generative AI since the beginning. For the rest of us, this is a great introduction and cursory overview of the ways AI may impact our lives. Yes, it’s speculative, and time will tell us how true to life these predictions will be. But as an educator and a person open to filing technology into my life in useful ways, this was helpful.

This book assumed the position that AI was inevitable and a given for general accepted use going forward. There was little to no conversation about movements to stall or eradicate AI or the ethical implications of using it.
If you ignore this oversight, this is a useful look at how AI is best used as a tool rather than a product in and of itself. It was fascinating to hear about as someone that has never used AI before but also uncomfortable despite the repeated insistence that AI is not some Big Bad.
