So well written and so accessible. I lack a scientific brain but could understand and engage with the subjects raised in what was quite a harrowing book for me.

This holds no punches. We are at a precipe, a tipping point, and we must come together to tackle climate change, biodiversity and saving the oceans in order preserve this precious planet that is our home, our only home.

I had anxiety as I read the first half of this book, my throat and mouth filling with ash when presented with the evidence of what we as humans had done to the Earth, what we continue to do.

But then there was light. Hope in a burning world. The second half of the book is filled with positivity, a plan of action, examples of successful attempts to turn the tide on our own extinction.

Read the book, watch the documentaries about waste, food production and extreme weather. Start making changes today. Demand more of your authorities and the companies you engage with. Use your power as a consumer to force companies to be sustainable and fight for a greener planet. Do it now because we don't have much time and I've seen enough disaster movies to have a taste of what's coming if we fail to act.

An important message to add to the tsunami of evidence that we are living unsustainably. I was worried this would be a thoroughly depressing book but felt that Attenborough balanced it well with snippets of his life and how to work towards a better future. I would have liked more actionable examples on how to make an impact, but an important message all the same.

An essential read. Sobering and sort of makes you feel helpless because much of our future rests on companies, governments, etc.putting the earth in front of profit... Doesn't seem likely and that is scary.
I think veganism should have been much more of the solution here, it is mentioned, but I know that Attenborough is not a vegan so can't really promote it, and perhaps he didn't want to alienate or scare off people from making changes. Whatever the reason, I still wish there was a bit more facts regarding the benefits and necessity of veganism.

An excellent, eye-opening and thought -provoking book that will have you reflecting on what you can do better.
