Listened for Fun (Audible)
Overall Rating: 4.75
Story Rating: 4.50
Character Rating: 5.00

Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)

First Thought when Finished: Fate's Edge was exciting, fun, and made me excited/sad that the next book is the last one.

Story Thoughts: Favorite one in the series so far! The action was spot-on. The story was intriguing. The characters brought their A game. The writing was fantastic. The romance was smexy. The smexy was blush inducing. This really sealed my new found love Ilona Andrews. This was just well crafted all around.

Character Thoughts: Audrey was my favorite leading female in the series so far. She was resourceful, smart, and a good person. I love Kal from before but he really brought his leading man "swagger" in Fate's Edge. However, the main reason that I loved the characters: The Boys! Seriously if those two rascals don't at least get some kind of "where are they now" book/novella/website shout out I will be disappointed.

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Renée Raudman / Length: 14 hrs and 18 mins
Renee does a great job with the narration of this series. I highly recommend these on audio. She brings it every time!

Final Thoughts: I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the last one.

This book is pretty action-packed, but it leaves the MCs and their romance a bit underdeveloped. Kaldar's magic ability is talked about, but we rarely see it in action. It's unsurprising a con artist might be wary of trusting another con artist, but this concern is overcome too easily. I love everything by Ilona Andrews, but this is one of their weaker books - their strength is on focusing on a single set of characters through a series, not writing a different h/H for each book. It's still worth reading if you are going through their backlist.

I read until my eyes blurred.

It is past 3:00 am but I couldn't stop reading until I finished the book.

The characters are so real and fun and wonderful. I love the good guys and hate the horrific bad guys.

I hope this series keeps being interesting, serious and keeps me laughing in some spots.

Been a while since I’ve read an Ilona Andrews book. I’d forgotten how good they are at world building and writing characters. What a fascinating and complicated world they’ve built here, full of equally fascinating people.

Some of the names and concepts can be confusing if you don’t take a moment to absorb, but even on audio (and I jumped into a middle book no less), it’s manageable.

The main cast of characters for this book is pretty lovable, especially the Edge kids. I really enjoyed the way the characters were fleshed out as well. However I wasn’t sold on the romance even if I enjoyed the little flirtations and bickering between the two main characters. There’s definitely chemistry and a spark between them, but there was just something lacking in the way the relationship developed for me. Still, one cannot deny the quality of an Ilona Andrews book.

This book was fun, even though I liked the previous one more.
I especially liked that we have multiple distinct POVs. And I liked that the book ended on a positive note.

it wasnt very engaging at first. i struggled to read it for over 3/4 of the book- a rarity with an IA book. pretty good once it got going though. same amount of cheese as the other edge books. nice nice.

Kalder has met his match in Audrey. she's resisting him though.
I enjoyed all the other characters that we got to see again!
I love Jack and I'm glad we've got to see him again.
