One for the Murphy's was a book I just couldn't put down. Carley Conners is a 14 year old girl placed in foster care because her step father and her mother beat her and she ends up in the hospital. The Murphy family decides to take her in. What Carley learns in a few short months about the true meaning of love, family, friendship, and support was far more important to me than some errors the author might have had in how the book unfolds. For anyone who has read and loved The Pinballs or The Great Gilly Hopkins growing up, check out One for the Murphy's. You won't be able to resist Lynda Hunt's portrayal of Carley Connors.
